A Note on Your Content: Your Privacy Comes First

We want to be crystal clear about what we do not collect. The presentations, formulas, and all other content you create using the TexSlide Software (“User Content”) are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to, transmit, or store your User Content. Your work is your own and remains private to you.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect your information in three ways: Information You Provide, Automatically Collected Information, and Information From Other Sources.

Information You Provide

  • Profile Information: We collect information you provide when you set up and manage your account, such as your email address and a hashed password.
  • Information When You Contact Us: When you contact us for support or other inquiries, we collect the information you send us, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message.

Automatically Collected Information

  • Software Data: To activate and maintain your license, the Software collects your IP address, operating system type, software version, and a unique machine or installation identifier. This data is also used for periodic license validation and update checks.
  • Website Data: Our servers and our CDN provider, Cloudflare, may log your IP address and browser type to count software downloads and protect our Services from malicious traffic.
  • Anonymous Analytics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics from the Software to help us identify bugs and improve our product. This data does not contain any of your User Content and is not linked to your personal identity.
  • Cookies: We may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions on our website, such as managing your login session.

Information From Other Sources

  • Third-Party Login: If you choose to sign up or log in using a third-party service like Google or GitHub, we receive information from that service as permitted by your privacy settings, such as your name, email address, and profile picture.
  • Payment Processors: We receive information from our third-party payment providers (such as Stripe and Paddle) to confirm your payment, but we do not receive or store your actual credit card details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate, provide, develop, and improve our Services, including for the following purposes:

  • To provide and secure our Services, such as enabling you to create and manage your account, authenticate you, and activate and validate your license.
  • To communicate with you for essential purposes. This includes sending transactional emails (e.g., purchase receipts, password resets) and important product update notifications. We will not send you marketing emails.
  • To facilitate your purchases by sharing necessary information with our payment processing partners.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and other policies to protect the safety of our users.
  • To review and improve our Services by analyzing anonymous usage data.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with the following recipients for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Service Providers: We engage service providers that help us operate our Services, including for payment processing (Stripe, Paddle), authentication (Supabase/NextAuth, Google, GitHub), hosting, and content delivery (Cloudflare).

  • With Your Consent: We may share your information for other purposes pursuant to your consent.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have rights concerning your personal information. Depending on where you live, these rights may include the right to access, correct, transfer, or delete your data. You can exercise many of these rights through your account settings or by contacting us directly.

6. Data Security

We maintain appropriate technical and administrative security measures to protect your information. We use practices like SSL encryption for data in transit and password hashing to secure your account.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for the other purposes set out in this policy. For example, we retain your Profile Information for as long as you have an account with us. We may also retain information when necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. International Data Transfers

Our company is based in Hong Kong. Our servers are primarily located in the United States and may in the future be located in other jurisdictions, including Hong Kong.
